In Others' Shoes is the culmination of a Europe-wide teaching project by Global Education Derby that explores globalisation and migration. This range of lesson plans for all key stages aim to encourage empathy and intercultural awareness amongst students. We have provided one example lesson for each key stage, but there are many more on the website we link to below. There are lesson plans that suit english, drama, art, PSHE, languages and many more. The selected resources are:

Key Stage 1: Finding connections

This activity encourages the exploration of cultural interconnections using a circle of students and a ball of string.

Key Stage 2: Playing with empathy

This is a series of activities designed to explore the meaning and significance of  showing empathy and kindness in our interactions with others.

Key Stage 3: More equal than different

This activity explores the complexity behind identity and belonging. It is useful when stories around migration or incidents of racism are in the news - these can be used as a stimulus for discussion and analysis.

Key Stage 4: The Path of Hope

This activity is a collaboration between teacher and student where a play is written and designed to reflect the experience of refugees.
